I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Subway® Canada had unveiled their newest creation, paninis! I took my job of taste-testing very seriously and have now tried each panini multiple times, sometimes fitting in multiple testings in a single day. Now that I have compiled my very scientific research, I am ready to tell you which panini is the one you absolutely must have.

Here we go. Are you ready? The one panini that stands above all others and the only one that is right for you is….well, the results were actually inconclusive. You see, after falling in love at first bite with the Italian B.M.T. Melt panini, I ate it 3 straight times, ignoring the other paninis. When I finally decided to change it up, I went for the Chipotle Steak & Cheese panini and fell in love with that one, too. I’m guessing you can look ahead to where this story is headed…

The best panini for you will depend on the kind of day you are having. Maybe you’re feeling extra sophisticated on a certain day and decide to go with the Chicken Cordon Bleu panini. Consequently, maybe you are addicted to cheese, in which case you’d probably want to go all in with the Triple Cheese panini. All this to say that there is no one-size fits all choice when it comes to the new Subway® Canada paninis because they are all great in their own way.

Subway® Canada Has Paninis Now & My Mouth Is Freaking Out About It!

Before I get into the latest addition to the Subway lineup, I wanted to tell a little story about our local Subway restaurant. My daughter is a competitive gymnast. Yes, it’s a humblebrag, deal with it, and with the number of hours she trains, finding time to prepare meals can often be a chore.

We started going to Subway for dinner every Wednesday before training, a day we cleverly dubbed ‘Subway Wednesday’, because it was a good way for her to get protein, veggies and a milk in before her 4-hour training session. After about 6 or 7 Wednesdays of ordering the same meals, because my kids are petrified of trying new things, we walked in one day and before uttering a word, the employee rhymed off our entire order.

I was equal parts impressed and sad that we were so predictable. Considering how many people are served in a Subway restaurant on a daily basis, I landed on extremely impressed, and my kids were so excited that they literally cannot wait to go back in every Wednesday to see if they remember their order again. They felt like celebrities and who could blame them?

Okay, back to the task at hand. Obviously, when Subway reached out to see if I want to partner with them the answer was an emphatic yes! They are celebrating the launch of paninis in their restaurants and asked me to test them out for you, a task I didn’t take lightly! While I may not be a wizard on the camera, as you can see below, I am a champion eater and tried each and every one of the new Subway paninis for you!

The Verdict

There are 4 amazing paninis to choose from, which include Chipotle Steak & Cheese, Triple Cheese, Chicken Cordon Bleu and the Italian B.M.T. Melt. After trying them all, and being a meat guy, I tend to gravitate to the Italian B.M.T. Melt but all the paninis were excellent in their own way.

While my kids enjoyed the Italian B.M.T. Melt their dad let them try, they were split on their favourite panini, as my son loved the Chipotle Steak & Cheese, while my daughter was all about that Triple Cheese life! Side note, I’ve been blogging a long time now and it is still a hilarious adventure anytime I try to get pictures of the kids for a blog post. In the end, we always get the shot though!

On #NationalSandwichDay, Teach Your Children To Give Back

My daughter dressed up as a witch for Halloween this year but was sad when she saw other witch costumes with a broom as an accessory. Her older brother came rushing into the house looking for scotch tape, which I provided to him and then watched him run into the backyard to rummage through an old wood pile. Luckily for him, our lawnmower had broken down because the next thing I knew he was presenting his little sister with a stick that had very long grass taped to the bottom to form a broom.

The point of this story is that kids are never too young to learn about the power of kindness and we as parents need to nurture that side of them from an early age. I had plans to bring my kids to volunteer at our local Kanata Food Bank to celebrate #NationalSandwichDay with SUBWAY® Canada but they are unfortunately too young to be volunteers. Instead we decided to put together a care package that we will drop off to the food bank together and that way I can still give them a quick tour of the facilities and explain to them why the food banks are so important.

For every sandwich purchased with a drink on National Sandwich Day, SUBWAY Canada will donate a meal to Food Banks Canada. But that’s not all. Food Banks Canada will help more than 1.7 million Canadians this year and your help is needed more than ever. You can help your local food bank in many ways, by donating money or food, volunteering your time or even just spreading the word on social media or even simpler,this year you can also head in to your local SUBWAY restaurant on Nov 3rd, you know, today, grab a sandwich and drink, and talk to your kids about how fortunate they are to be able to enjoy that experience.

Celebrate #NationalSandwichDay on November 3rd with SUBWAY® Canada!

As a family who always seems to be on-the-go, we spend quite a bit of time in SUBWAY® restaurants, which is why I am so excited to be partnering with them for National Sandwich Day! Through this initiative, SUBWAY® will donate more than 303,000 meals to Food Banks across Canada. To put it into perspective, that’s more than the number of children across the country that rely on food banks every month.

As we work our way into the holiday season, food banks are working overtime to make sure that they have enough stock on their shelves to meet demand. With more than 550 food banks and 3,000 affiliated programs, Food Banks Canada will help more than 1.7 million Canadians this year. With food bank usage up 26% since 2008 and almost 80,000 people visiting food banks for the first time each month, now is that time for us to step and make a difference.

Go ahead and let all that data sink in for a minute. Oh, I should also mention that even donating just $1 can help to provide 3 meals to Food Banks Canada.

This year I will be bringing my kids with me to visit our local food bank, for a number of reasons. It gives them the opportunity to learn about volunteerism, which I believe to be one of the most important things we can do to help build our communities, while also helping them understand that not everyone is as fortunate as they are.

Listen, here’s the thing. I am bad at making lunches for myself. I have been this way ever since I was old enough to work and I’m not expecting that to change any time soon. What Is Your Favourite Subway Sub?

My family are subaholics. You know those nights where you just don’t feel like cooking, or you have 40 minutes to eat and get the kids to soccer practice? Instead of hot dogs or PB&J, we always pop over to Subway for a quick bite. I mostly blame Happy Gilmore for this obsession. I also have to admit that I get unreasonably excited when I go to an event or party and see the Subway sandwich platters on the tables. Whatever, you like weird things too!

We all have our go-to subs and I’ve always wondered if other people were the same way. The kids split a meatball sub, my wife gets a tuna, extra mayo and I am a chicken bacon ranch kind of guy. Oh yeah, and cookies. Always, cookies. That said, I put the question to you guys…
