The Never Ending Knock Knock Joke
You’ve heard it a million times before, “Knock, Knock!” “Who’s There?” and so on and so forth.
Rarely, if ever, are they funny enough to warrant even a phony giggle. Even the dirty adult ones aren’t overly funny.
That all changes when the joke comes out of the mouth of a small child, doesn’t it? We roar with laughter as the punchline rolls out, as if it’s the funniest thing we’ve ever heard in our lives.
The funny thing about it, for me at least, is that the laughter is completely genuine. Something about the fact that your child understands the humour in it, is comforting and hilarious at the same time.
Almost as if you have done your job as a parent by teaching your kid the lighter side of life and that being funny is okay.
That brings me to today’s post. My son, at age 4, has learned his very first Knock, Knock joke. In true child form, he immediately forgot it, which brought on this video of him reciting what may be the longest Knock, Knock joke of all time.
Enjoy!
PS – He was trying to do the one that ends with “Orange you glad I didn’t say Banana”. I tell you this because there is no way you would have guessed it from this….
Way to go buddy! Better than Daddy could do!
Cheers!
Very cute! I like the pancake version 🙂
Haha, thanks! Me too.
hehe, kids are too cute! I am looking forward to when DS is old enough to tell his own jokes. He is just starting to grasp with others make a joke now.
And knock knocks are always a classic
I`m already scouring the net for his next joke to learn, lol!
Gotta love kids when they first discover jokes – too cute!
Thanks Amanda!
hahaha I cannot count how many times we’ve made our girls tell jokes, I think I might be a stage Mom in training
Nooooooo!!! Well at least don’t be a TV stage mom, lol! I totally support the arts though 😉
Awhhh…kids really do love knock, knock jokes and he’s adorable
Thanks Monica and welcome to the CBN!!
hehe. So cute. 🙂
I will ALWAYS remember when my baby sister told her first knock-knock joke. I think she was 3-4 years old. It was “Knock, Knock” “Who’s there?” “Duck” “Duck who?” “Duck went for a walk.”
It sent the whole family into hysteria, and became a family joke for ever!
My boys try knock knock jokes but usually mess it up by saying “Knock, Knock, who’s there?” and then waiting for me to do the next step haha!
The boy gets messed up a lot with it too. I love it! It wouldn’t be funny if he was perfect at it!
So stinking cute!
Haha, nice!
Haha too funny!
OMG, I’m melting at his little voice! He’s super cute and I bet your kiddos are all a hoot. What a great way to teach them the lighter side of life. LOVE the vid Chris!
Thanks Nancy! I wish I could have a camera on them 24/7 because there’s so much stuff I wish I could have captured forever!
LOVE IT! Classic first joke (we had that one, courtesy of the Doodlebops) I particularly like his pancake version.
That one came out of nowhere. He’d been saying orange all day and we just got lucky with that video, lol.
Is that you son making a dig at my Mickey Mouse pancake? How dare you, Read family…I’ll get you.
Tommy, we don’t do that on video. All the pancake jokes are off camera, lol! Keep on trying brother, it’ll come!
Jokes are always priceless coming from a child. My son has too been learning jokes and the ones he has been giving are hysterical and he ends up laughing so hard half the time he can’t get them out! Love your sons little laugh. It is priceless!
Thanks Christine, I love listening to him laughing!
Bwa ha ha! Best knock knock joke EVER! I love the surprise ending where bananas become oranges and oranges become bananas and the whole world goes topsy turvey! LOL
Hahaha, he has no idea where he was going with it. If we hadn’t stopped him, it may have been a 30 minute long joke, lol.
Ours is too young to complete the joke, but he says ‘knock knock’. We’ll wait for the conga line of jokes in a year or two when his verbal skills form.
It’s the best time to date! So much fun and so many jokes!
Oh my goodness – that was too cute! My eyes were watering from laughing so hard.
Thanks! Mine too, lol.
I don’t know… I have to wonder what’s in that sippy cup.
How else am I supposed to get him to perform???
You’re right, that joke is only funny when it’s not that joke and a little kid is working their magic. Good stuff!
Thanks Whit! It means a lot that you stopped by to comment. Cheers!
