Front Runner For Toy Of The Year
My kids have a LOT of toys! They live in a house that is also home to a Day Care, so there is never a time where a toy isn’t within arms reach.
Do you know that we had our first nice day of the spring today? Yep, I spent 10 minutes dragging all my kids toys out of the garage so that they could enjoy them in this beautiful weather.
There were other things going on too. Some neighbourhood kids came over, I did groceries, Oh Yeah, and I took the garbage out to the curb.
With all the glorious toy goodness the kids had to play with, I was excited to see how they were going to react.
Were they going to play with their new PlasmaCars???
NOPE!
Most Definitely they’d be using their new hockey nets though!! Right?
WRONG AGAIN!!
You can imagine my surprise, after all my hard work, to find that the most popular toy of the day was in fact something that I had put out with the garbage.
There you have it folks! The 2012 Toy Of The Year is…..
Random Cardboard Box?!
Remember that when you are debating whether or not to get the $600 Kid sized Hummer from Toys R Us. It may look cool to you but the box it comes in will look a lot cooler to your kid!
Ever found your kids wasting your hard earned money by playing with garbage?? Share your story in he comments section and we can all console each other.
Cheers!
That is too funny! I don’t have children. But I remember when my niece and nephew were young they got more kick out of the wrapping and boxes than the actual present. It could have come from the dollar store for all they cared….
I am all about dollar store toys nowadays! They even have Cars 2 die casts, what do I need WalMart for now?!
Boxes are ALWAYS a hit, I remember as a kid when our neighbours got new appliances – dishwasher, fridge etc. It was better than christmas!!!
Unfortunately the TV’s are getting so thin these days that anytime I get excited over a big box in the garbage, it always turns out to be too small to climb into.
We had this same thing happen at my husband’s work Christmas Party – the kids had a blast playing in the cardboard boxes that held the chocolate gift baskets for everyone! It was hilarious!
I still say that my kids would LOVE the plasma cars though!
LOL, your secret is safe with me 😉
In all seriousness though, those PlasmaCars probably keep me kids busy for at least 60% of the spring and summer. Amazing Toys!
yes – boxes are always a big hit around our place too. We spent the afternoon outside yesterday, but we were on the deck with the water table
I saw your pics, looks like the kids had a blast! I busted out our shorts yesterday….I have no idea what’s going on???
Yup every bloody time!!
You can spend money on the most fabulous toys ever and they will decide that the box it came in is the BESTEST toy ever. LOL! Oh, and around here laundry baskets are a huge hit.
Our laundry baskets are always full so the kids haven’t learned the joys of riding them down the stairs yet. Did I mention that I am in charge of laundry…
That’s kids for you, boxes are way cooler then any toys we get them and the bigger the box the better. When we got our new furniture and the hubby got his new lazy boy, the box it came in, yeah, they made a clubhouse and played in that thing for about a week straight, lol.
Such a cute picture of your kiddos all in the box.
Thanks LaQuita, I think they’re kind of cute too, haha!!
I’m not going to lie, I get excited over a huge cardboard box too! The possibilities are endless with those things and the best part is, you can trash them and just get more for FREE!!!
although I am going to get out our plasma car for my daughter to ride on today.
ha! You are so right!
I get that a lot! LOL!!
aaahhh yes!! the good ol cardboard box! had that happen so many Christmas’ when the kids were little lol
Ha! My daughter is the same way….love cardboard boxes! Hilarious!
We just bought R 3rd Plasma CAR! But yes Boxes always are a HUGE HIT!
Wow!! 3 PlasmaCars??? You’re only 2 behind me 😉 You’ll have to pick up the pace a bit!
The box never fails! All our hardwork and it’s the darn box!!
What fun! Playing and having a good time has nothing to do with the cost of an item! Ever roll down a hill in a big cardboard box? Now THAT’S fun!
My daughter is totally the same way. All ways reaching for the out of the ordinary, not-so-much a toy, toy. Cardboard boxes also seem to be winning.
Omigosh. Don’t get kids just love cardboard boxes?? LMAO. At least they enjoyed the great weather!
hahaha!!! sooooo true!
The box gets ’em every time!!
I love a good random box!! but seriously I WANT ONE OF THOSE PLASMA CARS… not for the kids… for me! 🙂
Funny, that was the toy of the year in 1979 too!
