An Open Letter To My Son’s Barber

My son’s a good kid. Sure he has his moments, like when I tell him it’s time to turn off MarioKart or when we go to Wal-Mart and bypass the McDonald’s, but overall he’s a good dude.

He’s also a Tasmanian Handsome Devil. Just look at the above picture, I’m not lying.

I took him to get a haircut the other day, a task that used to be a nightmare but which has actually become a pleasant experience as he’s grown older.

When asked what I wanted them to do to his hair, I responded with “Just a bit shorter all the way around, we like to spike it up to give him a faux-hawk too so keep that in mind”.

I sat there with him and watched the procedure, he was good and listened to all the instructions he was given, while occasionally glancing up at the TV, which was playing Toy Story 3.

I’m not sure at what point he pissed of the barber but the end result of his haircut is something he won’t understand until he is much older.

I loved the movie Dumb & Dumber but it’s safe to say that the Lloyd Christmas look was never going to become a “Fad”.

With that in mind, all I have to ask the barber after this particular experience is….

WTF?!?!

Daddy Loves You Lucas! I’m so sorry for letting them do this to you….actually I’m sorry for sharing it with the world too, unfortunately it’s too late to retract it. I know you’ll understand someday!

Cheers!

OMG Spike it up, and never bring a little guy to a barber. Go the hair salon route, no lady that is a mom would ever do that to another woman’s child!!

It was actually a kids salon, Goobers, but men call hair cutters barbers, lol. The woman that used to do his hair is on mat leave so ‘ll have to let him grow it out until she’s back!

LOL, I have to admit that I may have used an older pic for the 1st one. I just wanted to illustrate his cuteness to it’s full effect 😉

Oh No! I used to get those “bowl” cuts as a kid. Fortunately he’s little enough not really realize. However, he probably will curse you when he gets a little older for posting. LOL

Awwww, well he’s cute anyhow and I’ll tell you if you take a pair of scissors yourself, cut up into the bang area, not straight across, just a few strands, he’ll have more depth and you can spike it. Poor little guy: that barber needs an a$$ kicking lol

Oh, that’s hilarious. That is exactly why I can’t bring myself to pay for my son’s haircuts. I can just screw it up myself and keep the $10.

I can’t get off your blog. I just discovered it today as a result of an Aerosmith Google search and found the link to you wanting them back in Ottawa. Now I’m reading through the other blogs and e-mailing the links to my wife. The hair cut story is so funny.

This heartfelt letter from a father to his son’s barber really resonated with me. It’s clear that the author deeply cares about his son and wants the best for him, even when it comes to something as seemingly simple as a haircut. The humor and honesty in the writing make it relatable, and it’s easy to empathize with the father’s frustration and amusement at the unexpected outcome of the haircut. This article reminds us of the special bond between parents and children, and how even everyday experiences like getting a haircut can become cherished memories. Great job, Chris Read, for sharing this touching and humorous letter!
